Each wand has a unique core made of a high quality material containing special magic properties. Ollivanders uses three types of core material: unicorn hair, dragon heartstring and phoenix feather. Garrick Ollivander is the current proprietor of Ollivanders. He is known as the best wandmaker in Great Britain. He created a completely new method of making wands by choosing high quality wand woods and cores, matching them together, and letting the wand choose its own master. This method proved to be capable of creating powerful wands that serve powerful wizards and witches.
